Occupation: Journalist, Author and Founder

Age: 35

Where were you born? What is your heritage?

Aussie

Tell us a little bit about what you do?

I’m a journalist, author, auricular therapist, herbalist and founder of Auricle Ear Seeds.

What does the Fashion Revolution movement mean to you personally?

Being a mother has made my concern for the future of our planet more acute than ever. Having worked as a fashion writer for about 15 years now, I’ve seen some progress in the collective consciousness of the industry and the growing demand for change in this time, yet not enough deliberate action. Through initiatives such as Fashion Revolution, we can accelerate this and make real change which will both benefit and inspire the next generations.

This year’s Fashion Revolution theme is all about a healthy planet being a human right – what action are you taking in the fight to keep our planet healthy?

From buying organic and package-free groceries and purchasing from ethical clothing companies, to composting my food waste and prioritising second-hand over new homewares, I do my best to consciously consume and tread as lightly on the planet as possible.

In your point of view, do you feel that organic fabrics and dyes have an impact on overall health and wellbeing?

Absolutely. Our skin is highly absorbent and one of our major detoxification pathways. If it’s constantly in contact with toxic chemicals and dyes, it can’t do its job properly. And particularly for children, this can be detrimental in the long run.

Do you have a favourite place in nature? If so, where is it?

By the ocean, or in the bush. I love nothing more than foraging for medicinal weeds and breathing in fresh, clean air.

What do you normally wear every day?

It’s either jeans and a T-shirt or activewear. My style is super simple as I like to keep my wardrobe minimal. It’s better for both the environment and my headspace in the mornings!

What is your favourite piece in your wardrobe?

A classic pair of Bassike tailored black pants.

Do you have any favourite sustainable brands, or favourite second hand shops?

I am a sucker for eBay finds and the local Bondi Beach Vinnies. I also love Outland Denim, aforementioned Bassike and of course Mighty Good Basics!

What is your favourite style of Mighty Good Basics?

The black G-String!
